His early life was spent in Pennsylvania, where he was married to vivian Renoll in 1908, they later moving to Detroit. To this union were born four children. Preston, Kenneth, Ethel and Ruth. Preston and Ethel preceding him in death in their infancy. Mrs. Vivian McCurdy passed away January 31, 1920, in Detroit. Mr. McCurdy was later married to Mrs. Anna Marie Cassel on May 6, 1921, at Detroit. To this union were born three children, William Jr., Roberta, and Thelma. He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, five children, Kenneth in Woodland, Mrs. Ruth Kittle and Roberta McCurdy in Detroit, William Jr., petty officer third class radio man in the U.S. coast guards, and Thelma at home; also two stepsons Harry and Clarence both in Detroit; six grandchildren; two brothers, George at Toledo, O., and John in Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Heltzel at York, Pa., Mrs. Charles Chalfont and Mrs. Charles Ferree in Detroit. His beautiful life and kind deeds will ever live in the memory of those who knew him. He was always interested in every good work, rejoiced in the prosperity of others, wished harm to no one, and always willing to share his blessings with others. He was a beloved companion, a wise counsellor and devoted to the duties of his home. He was loved by all who came in contact with him. Because of his devotion to great life principles he had an all-absorbing desire to see souls saved. Earth's loss is heaven's gain. But we weep not as those without hope. We rejoice rather in the midst of tears of grief because of the memory of the beautiful life of father, and the blessed assurance that he has gone to meet his Lord in the sky. He has gone to that celestial country where no storm clouds gather sickness and sorrow never come.
