He was born July 6, 1943, to Hale and Gertrude McDiarmid. Also had one sibling Maynard McDiarmid. He graduated from Lakewood high school in 1961 and shortly after joined the United State Army, where he proudly served his enlistment in Germany. After his tour of duty in the Army he went to work for General Motors for 32 years and retired to enjoy his life. He was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, and in-laws. Survived by his wife, Margaret McDiarmid; two kids from his first marriage, Gary Lee McDiarmid Jr. and Ida Marie (Wayne) Neitzke. He also had two bonus kids from his current marriage, Shelly (Mark) Herblet and Tim (Melissa) Dale. He had 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with one on the way. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.He also enjoyed going to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. He will be sadly missed by all. Family service will be at Fort Custer on June 16, 2022 at 12 p.m.. A celebration of Life at the Lake Odessa VFW will be at 3 p.m. for all that would like to attend.
