Marcilene H. McDonald, age 96, of Ionia passed away Dec. 3, 2013, in Grand 
Rapids.  She was born Dec. 2, 1917, in Berlin Twp., the daughter of Charles and 
Mary (Riggs) Signs.  

She graduated from the Ionia High School class of 1935.  Marcilene married 
Charles McDonald Nov. 6, 1948.  He preceded her in death in 1999.  She owned 
and operated Rita J. Beauty Salon for 15 years.  She enjoyed maintaining her 
home and adored her family.

Marcilene is survived by her daughter, Marla Kay McDonald of Grand Rapids, 
several special nieces and nephews and her cat Lily. She was preceded in death 
by her parents, husband and brothers, Elton, Norris and Charles Signs.

A memorial visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 
Lake Funeral Home of Ionia.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ionia 
County Animal Shelter or RAVE Woman's Shelter.
