MARY SMITH MCDONALD PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME FRIDAY. SHE LEAVES FOUR SONS. --------- Again another little old mother of four loyal sons has passed to her reward. She was the mother of John, William, Frank and Bert McDonald who are well known by many people of Lake Odessa and surrounding community. For more than thirty years she has lived on the arm where she died caring for, and being cared for by her son who lived at home. Even those who knew her but little felt the sweet influence of her friendly nature. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon. Rev. F. E. Densmore gave the sermon and burial was at Lakeside. OBITUARY Mary Smith was born September 16, 1850, in Ontario, Can., ad passed away at her home near Lake Odessa, February 17, 1933, at the age of 82 years, five months and one day.five until they were old enough to care for themselves. In 1879 she was married to David McDonald of New York state. In 1880 they moved to Detroit, later coming to Ionia county where she spent the remainder of her life. To this union four sons were born: John, residing at Grand Rapids; William of Orange township; Frank of Lake Odessa, and Bert, living at home. Besides her sons she leaves six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one nephew, two nieces, and a large number of friends and neighbors. When a young girl she united with the Methodist church and was a faithful member until the end. She was a devoted Christian and a friend to everyone she knew. --------- CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy shown during our recent bereavement, also those who sent flowers and furnished cars, also the minister for his words of consolation.
