The Ionia Daily Standard, Saturday, September 14, 1901
James Foreman McDonald, for many years a well and favorably known citizen of 
Ionia, died at his residence last evening after a protracted illness.  Mr. 
McDonald was born at Worthington, Penn., January 1, 1835.  He came to Ionia in 
1850 and was a resident of the city for the remainder of his life.  He was 
married to Jane Millard of Ionia in 1964, who survives him.  He leaves four 
children; Col. W. D. of Detroit, Fred Y. and Miss May of Chicago, and Harry B. 
of Ionia.  The funeral will be held from the residence at 3:00 p.m. Sunday.  
Interment at Oak Hill cemetery.
