He was born Aug.5, 1912, in Ionia. He attended Ionia High School and served in the U.S. Navy int eh South Pacific during world war II. He was married to Lena Nummer in 1964, and had retired as a maintenance foreman. He was a member of the Ionia VFW and Ionia Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife Lean; a daughter, marge Mapes of Naples, Fla.; a stepson,Michael Scippy of Arizona; four stepdaughters, Joanne Cook of Pewamo, Shirley Loop of Arizona, Virginia Wood of Muskegon, and Dolores Grayvold fo Pontiac; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Hill and Mildred Stall, both of Jackson, and Doris Black of Perry. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 pm. from Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, with the Rev.Scott Otis, Lyons United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery. A Memorial, in care of the funeral home, has been established for the Michigan Heart Association. Additional Comments: Tuttle Cem.
