McDowell, 81, of 1003 Washington, Lake Odessa, died at Annapolis hospital at Wayne Tuesday following an extended illness. Born April 1, 1895, at Yorkville, Ill., she was the daughter of Fred and Margaret Raymond Young. In 1914 she was married at Plano, Ill., to James McDowell, who died October 24, 1972. She and her husband moved to a farm on M66 northeast of Lake Odessa in 1920 and moved to Lake Odessa in 1939 where he operated the City service bulk oil plant a number of years before retiring. She was a member of the Central United Methodist church and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was a talented musician. Among her survivors are three sons, Donald of Wayne, John of Lake Odessa and Kenneth of Chelsea; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel at Lake Odessa. Rev. William Hartel will officiate and interment will be at the Lakeside cemetery.
