McDowell, 78, will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman will officiate and burial will be at Lakeside cemetery. Contributions to the heart fund may be left at the chapel. Bearers will be Lyle Faulkner, Ford Goodemoot, Clarence Aldrich, Richard Mazel, Kenneth Harwood and Russell Hewitt. Mr. McDowell died Tuesday afternoon at Pennock hospital, Hastings, a few hours after being admitted. He was born July 25, 1894 in East Delevan, Wis. the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis A. McDowell. November 21, 1914 he was married Ethel E. Young of Yorkville, Ill. In 1920 they moved to a farm north of Lake Odessa and in 1939 moved into the village where he was an oil company distributor. He was a veteran of World War I having served in France, member of Latter Day Saints church and life member of the Farm Bureau. He also served several terms a president of Lake Odessa village and had been on the school board. Surviving are the wife, Ethel; three sons, Donald J. and John A. of Lake Odessa, and Kenneth R. of Chelsea; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
