Mr. McElroy was born in eastern Ohio in 1816, and resided in Ohio until 14 years ago, when he migrated to this county and settled in the township of Boston. Eleven years ago he became a resident of Otisco, settling on a farm about 3 miles south of Belding. Five years ago he removed to Belding, where he has since resided. When 30 years ago he removed to Belding, where he has since resided. When 30 years of age he made a profession of religion and united with the M. E. Church, since which time he maintained a consistent Christian life. In the earlier part of his sickness he expressed great anxiety to recover for the sake of his family, but when he became conscious that he must die he calmly submitted to the impending result, and when upon the verge of the grave bade a final farewell to his family and calmly passed to the other shore. He leaves a wife, a son and daughter, three brothers and four sisters to mourn the loss.
