Kent McFaden, of Muskegon, passed away on Feb. 21, 2010 in Destin, Fla. He was 83. Born on Oct. 11, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas, “Kent” was the son of Charles and Winnifred (Kent) McFaden. He grew up in Ionia and graduated from Ionia High School in 1944. Kent entered the U.S. Navy on Oct. 13, 1944 and served in the Philippines and later in Korea. He was sent to Burma to do aerial mapping in 1953, and there he met his lovely future wife, Molly Montgomery. The couple were married in California on Sept. 8, 1955, and they returned to Michigan to settle in Muskegon in 1960. Kent worked for the Muskegon Post Office from 1960 to 1984. But retirement was not for him. He subsequently took a job delivering mail for the Muskegon Area School District from 1988 to 2008. A nation a award winning photographer, Kent was also a founding member of the Muskegon Railroad Historical Society as well as a long-standing board member of the Muskegon Heritage Association. He attended McGraft Congregational Church. Kent is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Molly; sons, Michael McFaden of Nashville, Tenn., and Norman McFaden of Valparaiso, Fla.; daughter Nancy (McFaden) Babin of Destin, Fla.; and grandchildren Raymond, Ashley and Derek McFaden, and Skylar and Kobe Babin. There will be an intimate family service in Destin on March 10, A memorial service is being planned for a later date in Muskegon.
