Monday & Thurs. May 3 & May 8, 1948 May 3, 1948 Leon McFeaters, 64, died at his home at 625 Townsend street Sunday morning at 10 o'clock of an illness extending 12 years. He came to Ionia with his wife in August 1945, from Johnstown, Pa., where he was employed as a motorman. He was born in Armagh, Pa., April 14, 18884, the son of Laughing and Anna McFeaters. Surviving him are his wife, Lillie, a son, Evan, of Ionia; four grandchildren; four brothers, Warren of Armagh, Garfield of Latrobe, Bird of Pittsburgh and Jesse of Johnstown, all of Pennsylvania; and six sisters, Mrs. Lucy Harriger and Mrs. Marria Harringer of Slago, Pa., Miss Kate McFeaters and Mrs. Mina Stiles of Dilltown, Pa., and Mrs. Minnie Ribblett and Mrs. Bessie Tindle of Johnstown. A daughter, Mrs. Gladys Johns, died in Pennsylvania January 11, 1943. Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Boynton's funeral home with interment in McBrides cemetery in Montcalm county. Thursday, May 6, 1948 Funeral services for Leon McFeaters were held from the Boynton funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev Wayne Davis, pastor of the Ionia Church of Christ, officiating. Interment was in McBride cemetery in Montcalm county. His bearers were Paul Caine, Elwood Brake, jr., Ernest Andres, Leslie Stebbins and Gardner Howard. Out of town relatives attending the services were Miss Jane McFeaters of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Blaine Beard of Cannons Fall, Minn.; Garfield McFeaters, Latrobe, Pa.; Jesse McFeaters, Spurgeon Johns and Spurgeon Johns, jr.; of Johnstown, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Messecar, jr., of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Szumal of Mt. Clemens, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Griffith and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Griffith of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Anna Crawford, Mrs. Bessie Neitzel and Arley Crawford of Stanton. Additional Comments: Age: 64 Funeral; Wednesday 5, 1948 McBride cemetery From the "Stanton Clipper-Herald" Thursday, May 6, 1948 McBride- The body of Mr. Leon McFeaters of Ionia was buried in the cemetery Wednesday, May 5. He was the son-in-law of Mrs. Elizabeth Beard and formerly lived in Edmore, moving there from Pennsylvania several years ago, and later moved to Ionia. He had been an invalid for many years. He is survived by his wife Lillie and a son who lately came from Pittsburg to live with his parents, and three grandchildren.
