The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, July 30, 1984
James A. McGeary, 74, of 24 Stevenson Place, Ionia, was found dead at his 
residence July 28.  He was born December 11, 1909 in Ionia, the son of James 
and Irene Lepper McGeary.  A veteran of World War II in the U.S. Navy, he was 
employed by Ceterfield Meters of Ionia for 20 years.  He was a member of the 
First United Methodist Church of Ionia, the Ionia Elks, and Ionia County 
Fishing and Hunting Club.

He was married July 24, 1937 in Muir to Lylia Elvert.  She died June 5, 1982.  
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Lucille Pierce of Ionia; two nieces and 
nephews, and several cousins.  

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral Home.  
Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home 
Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials have been established for the Ionia County 
Unit, American Cancer Society, and the Parkinson Foundation.
