McGinnis, 87, of Belding and formerly of Pontiac, died Monday at the Belding Christian Nursing Home. He was born on February 20th, 1902 in Grattan Township, the son of James and Catherine McGee McGinnis. McGinnis retired from the Pontiac division of General Motors in 1962, after working 30 years as a tool and die maker. He was a lifetime member of the Pontiac Elks Lodge and the UAW. He was preceded in death by two wives: Opel Benson and Lucille McDonald. He is survived by two stepsons: Velvus Benson of Pennsylvania and Lloyd Benson of Arkansas. Also surviving him are several nieces and nephews in the Belding area. McGinnis was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parnell, with the Rev. Julian Reginato officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belding. Rosary-wake services will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan Heart Association.
