The body was suspended from a clothes line around her neck while the other end was tied to a hook above. The body was found about five o’clock; and Dr. Geo. P. Winchell was immediately sent for, and upon arrival and investigation concluded that life had been extinct perhaps an hour. Mrs. McGowan resided on a farm about one mile out of Hubbardston, but had been in Ionia at the home of her daughter some six weeks, treating for a cancerous trouble, and had become despondent over her condition and the care and anxiety she was causing the friends. The husband and three daughter survive, the daughters being Mrs. Clarence Townsend of Stockbridge, Mrs. Frank Smith of Ypsilanti, and Mrs. Charles Reasoner of Ionia. Funeral service will be at 2:00 o’clock on Friday afternoon at Hubbardston, at the M. E. Church, with the order Eastern Star in charge. Deceased was a devout Christian woman and consistent in her active church life, and was also an active and helpful member of the Hubbardston chapter of the O.E.S., where she was long a member.
