The Ionia Standard, Friday, March 16, 1888
Died, at her home in this village, on Tuesday, March 14, Maud, youngest 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. McGowan, in the sixteenth year of her age.  
Deceased had been unwell for sometime, but was taken to her bed about two 
weeks ago.  On Friday last her young life was shattered by a stroke of 
paralysis, from which she never recovered, and on Tuesday morning, at 8 
o’clock, she died in great agony.  

The funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 o’clock at the Baptist 
church, the funeral sermon being delivered by Rev. D. B. Davidson.  The 
church, casket and grave were profuse with flowers, and every one felt as if 
the favorite child of the village has been called away.
