The Portland Observer, Thursday, June 15, 1922
After returning to his home from the band concert last Thursday evening, Ellis 
J. McIntyre went to his bed and shortly afterward suddenly passed away.  He 
had been suffering from ill health for several years.  His death was a great 
shock to his family and friends.

Mr. McIntyre was born at Ridgeway, Lenawee  county, in 1867.  About seven 
years ago he came to Ionia county and settled on the Andrew Beard farm in 
Orange township, sometime after coming to Portland.

The remains were taken to Tecumseh, Mich., for burial, the funeral being held 
Sunday.  

Besides the widow, one son, Loyal, of Portland, survives.
