Irene H. McKaig, 83, of Ionia, formerly of Westland, died Tuesday morning at 
the Ionia Manor.  She was born May 4, 1904, in Detroit, the daughter of 
Frederick and Bridgid Pixley.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Archibald McKaig, in 1967.  Two sons, 
Edward O. and Robert A. McKaig also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth Grissom and Eileen Porta both of Wayne, 
three sons, Stuart of Philadelphia, Pa., Gerald of Southfield and Lawrence of 
Ionia; one sister, Mae Egan of Westland; 23 grandchildren, 16 great-
grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Lent’s Funeral Home in Wayne from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday 
and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Thursday.  Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday 
at St. Mary’s Church, Westland.  Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Ionia Area Hospice, the American Cancer 
Society and SS. Peter and Paul School.  Arrangements by Montgomery Funeral Home 
of Ionia.
