Saranac Advertiser (??) Nov. 1910


Louise Aurelia Houghton was born in Saranac, October 18, 1859 and died at her 
home, 758 William Ave., Detroit, Nov. 2, 1910, aged 51 years and 13 days.

In 1870 she went with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Houghton to Tustin, Mich. 
______ her home until her marriage to Byron L. McKelvey, September 18, 1878. 
The first settled in Muir, and Ionia County was their home most of the time 
until they moved to Detroit in 1901.

She leaves besides her husband, three daughters, Mrs. E.W. Potter of Keene, 
Miss Edith Louise McKelvey and Mrs. Bruno Karl Schmuck of Detroit and one son, 
Byron Judson McKelvey, her mother, Mrs. M.B. Houghton of Hersey, two brothers, 
John Houghton of Hersey and ______ Houghton of Bay City. 

She had a large circle of friends here in her old home, that extend to the 
bereaved family and friends their most heartfelt sympathy in their afflictions. 
She was a good neighbor a true wife, a loving and trusted mother and will be 
sadly missed in the home. 

The remains arrived here Saturday afternoon accompanied by the relatives and 
the funeral services were held from the Congregational church Sunday morning, 
conducted by the pastor, Rev. R.E. Paul.
