Aug. 5, 1991 BELDING – Alice H. McKendry, 81, of 346 South Bellamy, Ionia, died Sunday at her home. Born Nov. 19, 1909, she was the daughter of Fred C. and Maude Belle Doty Howe. She taught in rural schools for 16 years and in Belding Area Public Schools for another 16 years, retiring in 1970. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, and of Easton United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband Elmer, to whom she was married in Belding on Dec. 31, 1932; two daughters, Carol Scott of Saranac and Shirley Tuttle of Sheridan; a son, Wayne McKendry of Cary N.C.; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Huffman Funeral Home, Belding, with the Rev. Scott Otis officiating.
