July 27, 1944 Largely attended funeral service was held for John McKendry, Sunday afternoon, July 23, from his late home in Easton township. Rev. Paul L. Stewart conducted the service and burial was in Easton cemetery. Pall bearers were his five sons, Edgar, Allen, Elmer, Harold and Royce McKendry and his son-in-law, Leo fuller. Mr. McKendry was born in Orleans county, New York, October 8, 1868, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McKendry. He was ten years old when his parents came to Michigan and located on an Ionia county farm in Easton. He had been a farmer all of his life. In 1892 he was united in marriage with Miss Irma Cowan of Easton. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942. Besides Mrs. McKendry, he leaves the five sons, Harold, Elmer, Royce and Allen of Easton township; and Edgar of Ronald; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Yeomans, Easton township; Mrs. Leo Fuller, Mrs. Price Haddock and Mrs. Douglas Welch, Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Cowan and Mrs. Edward Bradford, Ionia.
