Mr. Edgar J. McKendry, 92, of Ionia, passed away Sept. 29, 1998 at Heartland 
Health Care Center in Ionia.  He was born the son of Jon and Irma McKendry on 
January 29, 1906 in Easton Township.

He graduated from Dildine School and attended the Ionia High School.  He was a 
farmer working for his father.  In May, 1933, he married the former Veda M. 
Easterday.  For two years they lived in Easton Township.  They moved to Ronald 
Township just west of Palo living there for 33 years.  They then retired, 
moving south of Ionia living there for 30 years.  After moving to Ionia, Edgar 
started working for Orson E. Coe Auto Co. where he drove and delivered cars.  
He was a member of Palo United Methodist church for over 60 years, a former 
member of the Farm Bureau and the Ronald Grange serving as Master and in other 
offices.  He was a former member of the Ionia Intermediate School Board and 
president of the Palo School Board for 12 years.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Veda; one son-in-law; two grandchildren,; 
one great grandson; one sister, Elizabeth Yeomans of Ionia and many nieces and 
nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Cook Funeral Home, 
Ionia, with Pastor Larry Nalett officiating.  Interment will be in Palo 
cemetery.
