Bessie M. McKendry, 91, of 667 Union Street, Pine Vista, Ionia, died Tuesday
evening at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Winfield Township on
July 31, 1895, the daughter of Charles and Martha Engerbetsen.  She married
Harold T. McKendry on September 3, 1919, in Detroit.  He preceded her in death
on August 18, 1966.  She was a past president of Ionia Senior Citizens, the
American Legion Auxiliary and the World War I Veterans groups, and was a member
of the Ionia County Historical Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Jane Greenlee of Ionia and Lorraine Heether of
Smyrna; one son, Harold McKendry of Ionia; eight grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Rich Street Chapel of Montgomery Funeral
Home Thursday at 3 p.m., the Rev. Keith Bovee officiating.  Burial will be in
Easton Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8
p.m.
