MARLENE JEAN MCKENNA 1943-2016
Marlene Jean McKenna, 73, of Ionia passed away May 17, 2016 in Lansing, She was 
born Jan. 27, 1943 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Peter A. and Ruth M. (Bazan) 
Brandsen. Marlene married Fred McKenna in 1964; he preceded her in death in 
2008.

The two of them enjoyed watching and attending auto racing, especially the Indy 
500. They loved their Indiana colleges Sports Rivalries.

Marlene, in younger years, was involved in Bonnie Blue Bells with her daughter, 
Donna.

She is survived by her mother, Ruth VanHouten of Portland; granddaughter, Ashley 
McKenna of Ionia; sister, Karen (Chuck) Darling of Lake Odessa; and her nieces 
and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Peter; daughter, Donna 
McKenna; and two brothers, Gerald and Robert Brandsen.

Cremations has taken place and there will be a Memorial Service held 2 p.m. 
Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Sebewa with Pastor Greg 
Mattson. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to American Diabetes 
Association. Arrangement by Lake funeral Home in Ionia. Online condolences may
