Terry was born the son of Matthew Mark McKenna and Viviann Ione Sorenson on April 17, 1952. He attended SS Peter & Paul Academy in his elementary years and graduated from Ionia High School in 1970. Terry was a cabinet maker for over 40 years.He was formally trained at the North Bennet St.School in Boston, MA., where he specialized in 18th century furniture making. He worked both independently and with several renowned furniture makers in both New England and New Orleans, LA, continually developing and broadening his knowledge and skills while always implementing his unique creativity. He was instrumental in establishing the Furniture and Design Program at Savannah College of Art and design, Savannah,GA, where he sheared his knowledge and love of wood through teaching hand skills and fine woodworking, in both classes ad outside workshops. Terry was an adventurous soul and in the 1970's, he accomplished many first ascents with renowned mountain climbers in the northwest United States, Mexico and Canada.He realized a dream in the 1980's when he climbed to the base camp of Mt.Everest. Terry was predeceased by his parents, his twin brother, Tom, brothers, Matthew and James and his sister, Marcia. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Candace, his adored children, daughter, Ilan and son Max, as well as by his sister Carolynn (Connie) Lawler, and brothers, Lary (Dorothy) McKenna and pat(Deb) McKenna.He is also survived by several brothers-and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Terry was always aware of the importace of love, above all else, and expressed it continuously throughout his life with friends and strangers. He will be missed every day. A memorial service is being planned for the Spring of 2024.
