The family moved to Traverse City where she graduated from High School before meeting husband Don. She worked at General Motors and left when they purchased the farm in Saranac. While often thought of as a "silent"partner for many of their ventures, she was a clear voice and very involved behind the scenes. She loved to play the ukulele and sing. She traveled a great deal with her husband and was always up for a trip with her kids and grandkids. She taught them important things in life like drinking from a hose or faucet, timeless colorful songs and how to polka. She may have been described as "spunky" with a great sense of humor. She was fiercely independent for most of her life and passed that on to her daughters and granddaughters. Even as she was burdened with dementia, she still loved to laugh and play pranks.Nothing was sweeter than to hear her laugh after she would jump out from behind the refrigerator to startle guests.
