Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Wed. April 23, 1958


Mrs. Bessie M. McLean of 216 North Jackson Street, died Monday at 10:20 p.m. at 
Belding City hospital where she had been a patient 10 days.

Born May 10, 1884 in Marcellus, she was the daughter of Simon and Emma (Shaw) 
Bowers. She was married to Harry McLean September 15, 1906 in Elsie and they 
lived on State road in Ronald Township 24 years. Mr. McLean died in 1953, and 
Mrs. McLean moved into Ionia in 1954. One son, Russell died in 1950.

Mrs. Mclean was a member of the First Baptist church of Ionia, the CCW class, 
the Dorcas Society and of the State Road club.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Alvin Heppe of Orleans; five 
grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. M.H. Noland of Kalispell, Montana, Mrs. 
Clyde Fennel of Sturgis and Mrs. Russel Eastes of Independence, Missouri.

Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church Thursday at 2 p.m. The 
Rev. Alfred P. Miller will officiate and interment is to be at Forest Home 
Cemetery, Greenville.

The family will be at Boynton’s funeral home Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 
again in the evening from 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friends.
