McLenithan, 47, of route 3, Lake Odessa, died Friday, June 1, at University hospital in Ann Arbor, where he had been a patient for ten days and underwent surgery Thursday morning. Born January 11, 1909 in Gaines township, Kent county, he was the son of Allen and Maude McLenithan and came to Lake Odessa in 1937 from Grand Rapids. Since his arrival, he had been owner and operator of the McLenithan resort at Jordan lake and was treasurer of the Lake Odessa resort association. He was also a member of the Lake Odessa Sportsmen’s club. For the past three years, besides operating a resort, he had worked in the plant protection department of the Ionia Manufacturing Company. Surviving are his wife, Lethea, (the former Lethea Smith of Woodland township), one son, William, one daughter, Sharon Kay, both at home; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Joppe of Lake Odessa; his mother, Mrs. Maude McLenithan, one brother, Forest, sister, Mrs. Allice Hale, all of Grand Rapids and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Patterson of Cascade. The body will be at the Pickens funeral chapel, where services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. C. Earl Champlin, pastor of the Woodland Methodist church, officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.
