McLENITHAN, 79, formerly of Ionia and Lake Odessa, MI, passed away peacefully at home in Sunbury, OH on May 21, 2026. She was born in Detroit,MI on January 25,1947, daughter of Jack & Grace Wedderburn. Marilyn attended and graduated from Ionia Public Schools and went on to Ferris State College, where she earned an associates degree in business. While her children were growing up, she worked at EBI Breakthru, Inc, Machine Products, Rather Schools, and Child and Family Services. A childs well-being was very important to Marilyn. If you were ever out shopping with her and a child started crying, she would drop everything to go over and see if she could offer any help. She eventually entered Farm Bureau Insurance as County Secretary in Barry, Ionia, and Eaton Counties. After many years of hard work, Marilyn rose to the level of P & C underwriter/agent, with another associates degree and went on to retire from Farmer/Foremost Insurance. In retirement, Marilyn worked many part- time jobs, including Meijer Gardens, Motmans Greenhouses, and Hallmark. She also volunteered with Revive and Thrive, delivering meals to home-bound cancer patients. Marilyn loved to cook and was a foodie. She showed her love through cooking for her family and was always up for trying a new recipe. She also loved to travel. As a member of RV-ing women, she bought a 28 foot motor home and work-camped in Arizona, which remained a special memory for her. She also drove that motor home many miles all over the country, including her son in Wyoming and down south with her daughter. She took many memorable trips to Florida, and took a vacation to Hawaii, and to Scotland. She was tremendously proud of her Scottish heritage, and it was the trip of a lifetime. Marilyn said her greatest accomplishments were her two children, her education, and her advancement to Mahogany Row at work. Her smile, sense of humor, and unconditional love will be greatly missed. She kept that smile and humor all the way through her final days. She never met a stranger, and she made friends wherever she went. Marilyn is survived by her son, Bryan Yeomans of Cheyenne, WY; daughter, Beth McLenithan and her wife, Tracy Carbaugh of Sunbury, OH; former husband, Bill McLenithan of Curtis,MI; sister, Margo McKendry (Marty) and brother Jake Wedderburn of Orleans, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Per Marilyns wishes, cremation has taken place and a private burial will be at a later date in Ionia, MI. The family will also hold a Celebration of Life this Summer in West Michigan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society for the awareness and prevention of esophageal cancer.
