Late Wednesday afternoon Grant Uribe, 30, of Ashley, was charged with murder and ordered held without bond in the Ingham County Jail after arraignment before Judge Terrance A. Clem in Lansing District Court. McLeod’s body was identified through fingerprints. He was stabbed numerous times and his face was badly battered. It was estimated that he was killed around 3 a.m. last Tuesday. The body was found about five feet from shore, snagged on some branches at Moore’s Park. A pool of blood near a tennis court about 100 yards from the river and a trail of blood in the grass indicated that he was beaten and killed near the tennis courts and dumped in the river. Although robbery appeared to be the motive in the crime, investigation indicated McLeod had only $2 on him when he was killed. Services for McLeod were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pickens Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa.
