The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, February 18, 1972
Former chief clerk of Lake Odessa post office, Mrs. Dorothy M. McLeod, 61, and 
one of 16 children in the late Sylvester Curtis family, died late Thursday 
afternoon in Pennock hospital, Hastings, following a lengthy illness.  Born 
near Woodland, January 27, 1911, she was a daughter of Sylvester and Vera 
Ehret Curtis, and graduated from Woodland high school in 1929.

Married to Donald J. McLeod of Woodland, November 4, 1933, the couple moved to 
Lake Odessa in 1934 where she was employed as a postal clerk and later named 
chief in charge at Lake Odessa post office over a 26 year period then retired 
one year ago February 6.  She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and was 
a past matron of that organization.  She was also a member of the Lake Odessa 
hospital guild and held a membership in Ionia Country club.

Surviving besides her husband are ten sisters: Mrs. Howard Barnum, Mrs. Edgar 
Leffel, and Mrs. George Waldron of Hastings; Mrs. Irving Jordan and Mrs. Irol 
Wells of Lake Odessa; Mrs. DeForrest Darling of Lansing; Mrs. O.V. Nickerson 
of Carson City; Mrs. Howard Southwell of Woodland; Mrs. Gilbert Vroman of 
Saranac, and Mrs. Morris Weeks of Middleville.  Also surviving are five 
brothers, Kendall, Carl and Glendon Curtis of Woodland, Elwin of Freeport and 
Ivan of Bolivar, Tenn.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. from Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa, 
the Rev. Randall Metz of Woodland Zion Lutheran church, officiating.  Burial 
is in Lakeside cemetery.
