Mrs. McLeod had been ill for some time so that her death was not unexpected. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11:00 o’clock a.m. in the United Brethren church. Rev. J. E. Edwards, the pastor, preached the sermon and interment was in Lakeside cemetery. Mrs. McLeod was a woman of splendid Christian character, and one who death brings sincere sorrow to all who knew her. She leaves a husband, five sons, one daughter and numerous other relatives. Mrs. Phiannah A. Near McLeod was born in Welland county, Ontario, September 13, 1864, and died at her home near Lake Odessa, August 26, 1916, aged 51 years, ten months and thirteen days. She came with her parents to Caledonia, Michigan in 1878 where she was married to John McLeod November 22, 1881. To this union six children were born. She was converted at the age of fifteen and united with the United Brethren church in Caledonia and remained true to the faith and went to live with her Lord. Several months ago she underwent an operation from which she never recovered. She bore her suffering patiently, speaking often of her hope of Heaven, asking her loved ones to meet her there. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, five sons, William H., Roderick L., Harold L., and Clarence J. of Lake Odessa and Benjamin W. of Detroit; one daughter, Pearl B., of Lake Odessa; two brothers; three sisters and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday at eleven a.m. at the united Brethren church, conducted by Rev. J. E. Edwards, interment in Lakeside cemetery. Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin McLeod and Mrs. Sarah McMillan of Detroit; J. W. Shisler, Melvin Shisler, Edgerton Near and family, Newton Near, Allen Stauffer and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Marsh, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Morey Near of Caledonia; Mr. and Mrs. Earle Beeman and Mrs. Orlo Morgan of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. John McLeod of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert McLeod of Woodland, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Faber of Greenville, and D.
