The Hastings Reminder, July 7, 2007


Ronald Harold McLeod, aged 83, of Lake Odessa, passed away peacefully at home 
on July 2, 2007.

He was born to Harold and Martha (Robison) McLeod on a farm in Odessa 
Township. Ron graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1942; he was on the 
championship football team that year. He enlisted in the Army Air Force in 
December of 1942, and was stationed in Bungay, England with the 446th Bomber 
Group, Eighth Air Force as a teletype operator. Ron was honorably discharged 
in 1945 and married Uyrdas Stockford on July 11, 1945. They were married for 
55 years before her death in 2001. Ron still enjoyed his vegetable garden, 
which he started with his father in 1946. He loved bowling; having bowled for 
over 50 years. His friends will also remember how much he liked playing cards.

He is survived by his children, Colin (Jean) McLeod of Lake Odessa and Candace 
(Gary) Veale of Freeport; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; 
brothers, Bob McLeod of Ionia, Dean McLeod of Saranac, and Max McLeod of Grand 
Ledge; and sister, Anita Amy of Battle Creek. Ron was preceded in death by his 
parents; his wife, Uyrdas; brothers, Vance McLeod and Lyle McLeod; and sister, 
Geraldine Ulrey.

Visitation will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa from 4 to 7 
p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on 
Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Koops Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Pauley 
officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family has suggested 
that memorial contributions may be made to Barry Community Hospice.
