Betty "Marie" McMullen, 89
Betty "Marie" McMullen, 89, of Ionia, passed away Friday, March 16, 2021, 
surrounded by her family.

She was born to parents Ted and Irene Dill on July 31 1931, in Detroit, 
Michigan. Betty graduated from Warren High School and received a teaching degree 
from Michigan State University. Betty was the first in her family to receive a 
college degree. While at college, Betty met her future husband, Frank McMullen. 
They were married in 1954, and they raised their family in Warren, Michigan 
until 1992, when they relocated to Ionia.

Betty is survived by three children, Ken mcMullen of Amarillo,TX, Cheryl 
Hildebrandt of Ionia and Pat Garlow of white Lake; brother Norm (Karen) Dill of 
Marquette; grandchildren, Britton Hildebrandt, Brandon Garlow, Leyna Heden Kyle 
Garlow, Ian Hildebrandt and Haley Scanlon; and great-grandchildren, Mason, 
Riley, Charlotte and Dason She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving 
husband Frank, and brother Ed.

Betty and Frank taught at Roseville Public Schools for over 25 years. After 
retirement, they spent their time traveling with the Airstream Caravan, visiting  
all of the continental U.S., Mexico and Canada. When they weren't traveling, 
they spent time with family and enjoyed knitting and sewing.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at SS 
Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Brown officiating. Visitation took 
place one our prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's.
