Michael L. McNally, age 56, of Hickory, N.C., formerly of Ionia and Belding, 
passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004, at Center Charlotte, N.C.

Mr. McNally was born Nov. 15, 1947, to Laverne and Betty (Wiles) McNally.  Mr. 
McNally attended Mountain View Baptist Church.  He was employed at Mecklenburg 
County Parks and Recreation Department Aquatic Center.  He was a veteran of the 
United States Navy serving in the Vietnam War, and a member of the Scottish 
American Military Society as Commander Elect.

Surviving are his wife Barbara Joyce (B.J.) McNally; daughter Stephanie McNally 
of Hickory N.C., step-son Jason (Jennifer) of Newton N.C., mother Betty (Wiles) 
McNally of Ionia, one brother Timothy L. (Merry) McNally of Ionia, one grandson 
Ezra Landis Toney of Newton N.C.; two nieces Tiffany (Jason) Feiler of 
Portland, and Aimee (Mark) Fennell of Grand Rapids; twin grand-nephews and two 
grand-nieces; several aunts and uncles and a special cousin.  He was preceded 
in death by his father Laverne McNally.

Services were held at Mountain View Baptist Church.  Graveside rites were 
conducted by the Scottish American Military Society.  Memorials can be made to 
Mountain View Baptist Church at 4266 River Rd., Hickory, N.C. 28602, or to SAMS 
Post #1775, Care of Robert Krause Commander, 303 Cherokee Hills Dr., Pickens, 
S.C. 29671-8619.  Bass-Smith Funeral Home served the family.

A memorial service in Mr. McNally’s honor will be held in Ionia county at 
Shiloh Community Church at a later date to be announced.
