The Ionia Standard, Friday, November 8, 1889

Dougal McNaughton, one of the oldest and most trustworthy keepers at the S. H. 
of C., was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage, while on duty, at about eleven 
o’clock on Friday night last, and died a few minutes past midnight, at his 
home, west of the institution.  The remains were taken to Ada on Tuesday, and 
interred in the Cannon cemetery.  The G.A.R. post were in charge of the 
ceremonies.
