December 6, 2025 Excerpts from Ionia Obituary DORIS LUCILLE McNEELEY Died December 2, 2025-age 88 of Ionia. Born November 23, 1937 in Ionia, daughter of John & Vera (Young)Morrison. Graduated from Saranac High School Class of 1956. Doris attended CMU graduating with a BS Degree studying Elementary Education & Instrumental Music playing the Oboe. At CMU she played in the Concert Band & Marching Band. Member of the Kappa Gamma Sorority & of the Delta Iota Chapter of Delta Omicron. Doris married Don McNeeley on August 19, 1963 at the First Christian Church in Ionia.They celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary Aug.19th, 2011. Member of Cascade Christian Church in Grand Rapids, where she served as a Deacon & Elder, had served on the church board as head of Missions & attending many church camps. Served on the Crystal Commission for years to help with the Crystal Camp Program. Served as the head of the Mission Outreach Committee for years, helping people within Michigan, U.S.A & abroad. Also a member of the Gideons. Growing up she was involved & showed cattle in the Ionia CO. 4-H Program.Later showing horse in the Ionia CO. Horse Program & was a 4-H Horse Leader for many years. Doris loved playing the Piano. She loved animals, birds & gardening & working in her flower beds or her garden. Loved attending sporting activities with her Grandkids. Survived by her children, Mary(Stephen) Jacob of Munger & James (Deborah) McNeeley of Dewitt. Grandchildren: Josh(Madison) Ferris of Lyons, Brandon (Alyssa)Ferris of Ionia, Heather (Jeffrey) Koslsch of Caledonia, Alex (Stephanie)McNeeley of Westminster, CO, Zach McNeeley of Dewitt, Nathan & Nolan Jacob of Munger. Great-grandchildren:Emmett & Everly Ferris, Pierson Ferris, Leo McNeeley, & another great & one on the way;Lyla Koelsch. Many nieces, nephews & great Nieces & Nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald McNeeley, parents, granddaughter Allison McNeeley & brother John Morrison Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at LaValley Church with Pastor Nancy Patern officiating. Interment at Saranac Cemetery. Visitation Monday, December 15, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm & Tuesday, 9:30 am until time of service at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Ionia Co. 4-H or Cascade Christian Church.
