Death Ends Long Life of Lyons Woman

Mrs. Amada McNeil, 92, Failed Rapidly After Breaking Hip in a Fall.

Mrs. Amanda McNeil, aged 92, passed away Monday morning at 1:30 at the home of 
her daughter, Mrs. Lois Dougherty, in Lyons.  Five weeks ago Monday Mrs. McNeil 
fell and broke her hip.  The break had healed but since that time she had 
seemed to fail.  It is stated that her death was due to old age and the shock 
of the accident.

Mrs. McNeil was born at Myron, O.  She came to Michigan when quite young, her 
parents settling in Van Buren county.  Her maiden name was Miss Amanda J. 
Harper.  When about 19 years of age she was united in marriage to George P. 
McNeil.  Mr. McNeil passed away in 1897.

She spent the larger part of her life in Michigan.  For a time she lived in 
Chicago and also resided with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Etson, at Eufaula, Okla.  
While in Oklahoma she became a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  Before 
leaving that city she was made an honorary member of the order.

Mrs. McNeil is survived by five children, Mrs. Lois Dougherty, Mrs. Mary Etson, 
and Mrs. Flora Glasdorf, who reside together at Lyons; Mrs. Clara E. Barry of 
Cleveland, O., and William McNeil, of Sawyer, Ind.  Mrs. McNeil has made her 
home with Mrs. Dougherty for the past 15 years.  She has been a member of the 
Methodist Episcopal church for the past 62 years uniting with that denomination 
at the age of 30 years while a resident of Lawton, Mich.

The funeral will be held from the residence of Mrs. Dougherty Wednesday 
afternoon at 2:30 .  Burial will take place at Lawton.
