          CHARLES McNEIL DIED AT IONIA
   Charles J. McNeil, 59, of 10607 Goddard Road, rural Portland passed away Friday
morning at the Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted Wednesday, June 19 following an
extended illness.
   He was born in Sebewa Township, March 27, 1918, the son of Bert and Edna
(Luscher) McNeil, on the farm 
where he has always resided.  He farmed his entire life in the Sebewa area and
served as supervisor of 
Sebewa Township since 1949, a position he held at the time of his death.
   Mr. McNeil was a graduate of the Lake Odessa High School in 1935 and was a member
of the Ionia County 
Farm Bureau.
   He married Patricia M. Thorpe October 20, 1949 in Sebewa Two. He is survived by
his wife; a son, Clay at 
home; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Corinne) Spencer of Grand Ledge; two granddaughters;
his mother and 
stepfather, Robert and Edna Wenger of Sebewa.
   Funeral services were held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel,
Lake Odessa.  Rev. 
Douglas Stephens of the Grand Ledge Pentecostal Church officaiated with burial n
Lakeside Cemetery.
