The Ionia Daily Standard, Thursday, April 15, 1897
John McPherson, of Easton, died very suddenly last evening.  He had been at 
work all day, and when he came to the house at supper time he sat wearily down 
on the door steps, and complained of feeling bad in the region of the 
stomach.  He soon got up, and attempted to walk into the house, but reeled and 
fell, never regaining consciousness, and died between 7 and 8 o’clock.  The 
doctor pronounced it a case of heart failure.  Deceased was about 54 years of 
age, and was born within a mile of the spot where he died.  He leaves a wife 
and four children.  He also leaves two brothers, Andrew of Easton; and Donald 
of Washington; and three sisters, Mrs. L. Clute and Mrs. G. Gundrum of this 
city, and Miss Pauline of Detroit.
