He had lived at the home where he died for the past 30 years, where he dealt mostly in fruit products. He was born in Canada December 11, 1858, and came to Michigan with his parents when little more than a year old. In 1881 he was married at Greenville to Miss Mary Bennett. They lived for a short time at Carson City, and in 1893 moved to Ronald township, where they lived until buying the fruit farm in 1907. He was a member of the Ionia lodge F.& A.M., and was a deacon of the Church of Christ. Survivors are his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mrs. William Higgins, of Ronald township; three grandchildren, Mrs. Thomas Cobb, of Williamston; Mrs. James Moore, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Carl Higgins, of Ronald. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 o’clock from the farm home north of Ionia on the Steele road. Rev. C. A. Brady, of the Church of Christ, will officiate, with a Masonic burial service at the time of interment in the North Plains cemetery.
