McQuillen, 69, of Lyons died at his home Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 5 a.m. after being ill for several months. Death was attributed to pneumonia following a stroke some time ago. He had been a patient at the Ionia County Memorial hospital and at the Ionia Convalescent home until a week ago, when he was returned home. He was born Dec. 14, 1882, on a farm south of Lyons, son of Daniel and Dora McQuillen. He attended Lyons schools and when 16 he began his work as a printer with E.S. Fuller of the Lyons Herald. In 1911 he went to Chicago and continued as a printer on Chicago newspapers until his retirement five years ago and his return to Lyons. Upon his return, he made his home with his two sisters, The Misses Ruth and Mable Hamler. He was a past master of St. Cecilia Masonic lodge, a post commander of St. Cecilia Commandery and a member of Gourgas Chapter, Rose Croix consistory all of Chicago and was on the roll of honor of the Masonic Grand lodge of Illinois. Surviving is a brother, George McQuillen, Lyons; and four sisters, Mrs. Irene Penney and Mrs. Alice Minard of Detroit and Miss Mable Hamler and Miss Ruth Hamler of Lyons.
