McSherry passed away at his home in the village Wednesday noon aged 55 years, 4 months and 2 days. Deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year ago, but had recovered to such an extent that he was able to be about and attend to the cream station and pickle salting station, of which he was manager. He complained of not feeling well all day Tuesday, and while on his way home at supper time suffered a second stroke. His son-in-law, Roy Benge, overtook him about the time he was stricken and assisted him home. He did not regain consciousness, death following about twelve o’clock Wednesday. Mr. McSherry was born in St. David, Canada, but has spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity, having been a resident of Hubbardston, Pewamo and Maple Rapids. He has been closely identified with local politics for many years, holding various offices of public trust, being Justice of the Peace of Lyons township for the past several years. Of a quiet disposition, his humorous sayings were the joy of his friends, who will miss his cheering presence. He is survived by a wife and five children, all living at home with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Roy Benge, who resides at the Commonwealth dam. The funeral will be held from the M.E. church Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment in the Lyons cemetery. ---- The funeral of Wm. J. McSherry was held last Friday afternoon from the M.E. church, and was largely attended, Rev. W. W. Hurd officiating. The pall bearers were E.S. Fuller, W.A. Webber, M.E. Brown, B.A. Grove, Chas. Herrington and G.D. Faxon. Interment in the family lot in Lyons cemetery. Besides a number of Brother Moose who attended from Ionia, the following from out of town were present: A brother, Henry McSherry, and a brother-in-law, Wm. Oliver, of Grand Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Newton of Sheddon, Canada, Mrs. Kate Goodhue of St. Thomas, Canada, and Mrs. Walter Stacey of Port Stanley, Canada; Dr. A. Jefferies of Detroit; H.M. Britton of Durand; W.S. Irish of Pewamo; Mr. and Mrs. E.P. McClow, Mr. and Mrs. Edward McClow and Mrs. Kate Miller of Maple Rapids.
