Y., Oct. 8, 1832 and died at his home in Carson City Jan. 30, 1911, in his 79th year. At four years of age he came with his parents to Michigan, locating at Westphalia, Clinton Co., where he grew to young manhood. On Nov. 4, 1857, he was married to Miss Mary Vance of East Plains and they made their home on the old homestead, north of Pewamo, until they moved to Carson City 33 years ago. To this union were born six children: Mrs. Sarah J. Ludwick of Carson City, John McVeigh, of Brittian, S. Da., Geo. McVeigh, of East Plains, Byron McVeigh, of Aberdeen, S. Da., and Mrs. Percie Eldredge, of Carson City, all of whom are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. The funeral services were held at his late home at twelve o’clock noon on Thursday, Feb. 2, and the remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in the family plot in East Plains cemetery, just a stones throw from the old homestead where the happiest years of their lives were passed. The death of Mr. McVeigh marks the passing of another of the old pioneers of the Plains; men who made glorious the first years of Michigan’s history.
