Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Marion McVeigh, nine, who died as result of a fractured skull received in an automobile accident Sunday afternoon. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George McVeigh, who live two miles east of Hubbardston. The fatal accident happened as the parents and young girl, were enroute to Houghton lake to spend Labor Day. They stopped by the roadside a short distance east of Clare to get a drink from a spring. Marion was struck by a car traveling at a high speed when she attempted to follow her father across the pavement. She died two hours later. The services were conducted by Rev. Floyd N. Drake, of the Hubbardston Methodist church. He was assisted by Charles Langdon who sang. Pall bearers were Keith Langdon, Eugene Tabor, Harvey and Rollin Allen. Burial was in the East Plains cemetery. In addition to the parents, a sister, Doris, and a brother, Bunyan, survive.
