McVeigh, 63, of 327 Bliss street died Tuesday at 8:05 p.m. at the Ionia County Memorial hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks He was born in Hubbardston Oct. 15, 1836, the son of Bion and Tessie McVeigh. He lived his entire live in Ionia county. Aug. 1, 1911 he married Alta Conklin of Arcadia. They lived in Ionia city for 25 years. In March, 1950, he would have completed twenty-five years service at the Michigan Reformatory. Since 1938 he has been captain of the afternoon shift there. McVeigh was a member of Ionia lodge No. 36, F. and A.M. and in 1936 was worshipful master of Tuscan lodge No 78, F. and A.M., of Hubbardston. Surviving are the wife, two daughters, Mrs. Hulda Schneider of Charlotte and Mrs. Maxine Towne of Muskegon; two grandchildren, Richard and Darlene Towne of Muskegon; two brothers, James of Grand Rapids and Otto of Milwaukee. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. from the Boynton funeral home under the auspices of Ionia lodge, F. and A.M. Interment will be in the family lot at East Plains cemetery.
