Funeral services were held at the Pilkington home this (Thursday) afternoon, in charge of Rev. W. H. Irwin, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in Portland cemetery. Mrs. McVeigh was one of the few remaining real pioneers of Portland. Her maiden name was Mary Pilkington and she was born in Portland township November 16, 1851. In 1886 she was united in marriage to Samuel A. McVeigh, who died last May. Following the death of her husband she continued to live at her home where she was cared for by Jennie Hill until the first of this month, when her home was closed. Since that time she had made her home with her brother, Fred Pilkington. Mrs. McVeigh was a member of the Methodist church, W.R.C., Order of Eastern Star and Lade Maccabees. Besides the brother at whose home her death occurred she is survived by another brother, Orrin Pilkington of Twsp, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. Lucy Baker of Boise City, Iowa.
