Ionia Sentinel Standard, 30 Sep 1940

Mrs. Jessie May McVicker, 43, wife of Lester L. McVicker, died at her home at 610
East Lincoln avenue Sunday evening at 6:45 o’clock following an illness of about
eight weeks.  She had been in ill health for some time.

Born May 21, 1892, she was the daughter of Emory and Clara Roush Wait of Freeport. 
She was married to Lester McVicker at Hastings in 1926.  They lived for a time in
Grand Rapids and moved to Ionia about two years ago.  She has always attended the
Methodist church and was quite active in PTA work before she moved to Ionia. While
in Ionia she attended many of the PTA meetings although she did not take an active
part in the business.  Her special hobby was flowers of which she was very fond.

Surviving are the husband, one daughter, Ann Niess, a son Robert Niess and a
daughter, Arvonne McVicker.  Her father, Emory Wait, of Freeport and two brothers,
Edward Wait of Ionia, and Ray Wait of Freeport, also are surviving.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Stebbins
funeral home on West Main street where the remains will repose until the funeral
hour.  Interment will be held at Highland Park cemetery and Rev. F.O. Dunbar will
officiate.
