The body of William Meacham, 69, was discovered late Monday by James McAvoy, who occupied roaming quarters in the same building with Meacham at 413 ½ W. Main street, Ionia. Meacham had been dead for about a week. It was believed the man had died from a heart ailment. McAvoy stated that he had noticed that Meacham had not been up and about for several days and became more worried each day. He finally investigated and found the body. He told officers that he had seen Meacham Tuesday of last week. Mrs. Afton Smith, of Ionia, had also tried to see him on that day, but had received no response. Burial has been set for Wednesday at the Highland Park cemetery. In addition to his sister, one brother, Levi, of Muir, survives Meacham. Meachon had lived most of his life in the vicinity of Muir and Ionia. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Afton Smith, of Ionia; a brother, Levi Meachan, of Muir; a nephew, Charles Smith, of Portland; two nieces, Mrs. Kale Krouse and Mrs. Carl Malakofsky, of Ionia. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Myers funeral home.
