Mrs. Elsie Mead, of Orleans Dies; Funeral Is Friday

Illness of Pneumonia After Influenza Proves Fatal To Popular Woman

Death came Tuesday evening to Mrs. Elsie Mead, beloved resident of Orleans, 
after a short illness, pneumonia following influenza having developed the 
Sunday before Christmas.  Hope for her recovery had been held out until the 
last few days when her condition indicated that her illness was critical.

Mrs. Mead was born in Ionia county 65 years ago and had been a life-long 
resident of the county.  Prior to her marriage she was Miss Elsie Nichols.  She 
was preceded in death by her husband who died two years ago.

She is survived by one son, Dr. W. Kendall Mead, of Detroit, who arrived 
Wednesday to take charge of the funeral arrangements.  The services have been 
set for Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the home.

Mrs. Mead was one of the most highly respected members of the community having 
a circle of friends about the vicinity of Orleans which included virtually 
every resident.  Her high qualities were such as to win her the highest 
admiration from all who knew her.
