Two sweet sister, June Una Morris and Ruth Eva Morris, were born in Portland on September 8, 1923 to Benjamin and Una Morris. they were adored in a household of big brothers; Cyril, Lynn and Howard. She was a diligent worker, scholar, gardener, artist and business woman (Definitely a Proverbs 31 woman). She often shared childhood stories and talked of her father managing the Williamston A&P through the great Depression. With help from their brothers, June and Ruth took care of their mother and boarded guests in their home while attending high school. June was Valedictorian of the Williamston class of 1941. She went on to Spring Arbor Junior College and met the handsome, Henry Mead. They were married in 1942. they enjoyed 51 years together and raised 3 children; Celia (David) DeMond, David (Linda) Mead and Elaine (Patrick) Whitney. She treasured her 4 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Henry traveled ahead of June to get their heavenly mansion ready in 1993. June raised her children made them take piano lessons (and Practice), was a 4-H leader and worked multiple jobs including being a seamstress. She joined the US Postal Service at the age of 50 in Lake Odessa. She walked the city routes of 8 miles each regardless of rain, sleet or snow. She retired in 1988 after persistently encouraging her children to become postal employees. While working her Michigan mission field, she was actively involved with volunteer work in Eaton and Barry counties backing the commission on Aging. June was an avid reader and supported the Lake Odessa library. She worked a lifetime for the Free Methodist church; her later years were spent with the Ionia church where she was renowned for her cookies and pies.
